The Nexus parts requests system allows teams to efficiently participate in sharing their resources with other teams. Teams can view parts requests on their dashboard or on a pit display. Teams can also opt-in to receive announcement notifications (which includes parts requests) in a Slack or Discord channel by scanning their Nexus code.
Access
From the volunteer menu, tap “Announcements”. Any user with either the Pit admin
or Field tech
role can manage parts requests.
Teams can use this system whether or not an event volunteer is managing it.
Approve a parts request
If a team submits a parts request via their Nexus dashboard, it must be approved by a human before it will be shared with other teams. Usually, this approval happens centrally and requires no action by event volunteers.
If necessary, you can approve pending requests in the “Pending” section. Only approve real parts- no jokes!
Post a parts request
If a team comes to pit admin in need of parts, select their team number in the “Select team” dropdown under the “Post a new parts request” section. Then, enter a description of the parts they need in the “Parts” field. Encourage the team to be as specific as necessary to ensure they receive usable parts.
As soon as a parts request is posted, it will be displayed to teams. A notification will also immediately be sent to each team that has opted-in to announcement notifications.
Cancel a parts request
Teams can remove their own parts requests by scanning their Nexus code and tapping “Manage parts requests”.
If they let you know they no longer need a part, tap the “X” button next to the active parts request.
