Every volunteer that wants to use Nexus at the event must be invited or granted access by another user that already has access.
For official events, the primary FTA will receive an invitation before the event. For offseason events, the user who registered the offseason with Nexus will have initial access.
Scan a QR code
The easiest way to get access to an event in person is to scan a QR access code that is generated by someone at the event who already has access. Ask your lead (lead queuer or lead robot inspector) or the FTA for a QR access code.
Request access
If you aren’t at the event yet, or no one is available in person to show you a QR access code, you can request access.
Find your event
If your event is happening this week, your event will be listed on the front page. Tap your event name to go to the event landing page.
If your event is happening further in the future, tap the “Volunteer login” link in the footer to view the events dashboard. Expand the “All events” section and tap your event name to go to the event landing page.
Tap your volunteer role
Under the “For volunteers” section of the event landing page, tap your volunteer role.
Request access
If you try to access a page that you don’t yet have authorization for, you will be prompted to request access. Select the role you want to request and tap “Request”.
If you can’t find anyone who can approve your access request, email contact@frc.nexus for support.
Logging in
Before getting access, you must log in to Nexus. If you reach a page that requires you to be logged in, you will automatically be taken through the log in flow.
Google account
If the browser you are using already has a Google account signed in, tap “Log in with Google”. Once you complete the Google sign in flow, you will be redirected back to Nexus and can continue requesting access or accepting an invitation.
Access granted to Google accounts is transferrable to other devices. You can log in with the same account on your phone and tablet and only need to get access for the one account.
Device account
If the browser you are using doesn’t have a Google account signed in, tap “Device log in”.
Enter a name for the device. If it’s your personal device, you can just enter your name. Then, tap “Create device account”.
Access granted to device accounts is not transferrable to other devices. If you need access on another device, you will need to create another device account and get access for it.
Note: device accounts can’t be used for certain features, like accessing the events dashboard (“Volunteer login” link) or creating a demo event
